Definitively, one of the highlights of Huatulco is its wonderful shoreline, composed of several small bays with more than 36 beaches scattered between rough cliffs and mountains.
Take a closer look from the ocean to the natural features of this paradisiacal area and hear the ocean’s voice roaring at “La Bufadora” (the blowhole) or be surprised with the massive natural Indian face, engraved thru time by the sculpturing action of the waves and the wind: the stone face.
Visit the resort area at Tangolunda Bay, where buildings are mixed with the mountains on the background. Change your heading toward the west and check the secluded bays of Organo and Maguey. Continue your journey up to Cacaluta Bay and its Island, named “Playa del Rey” in honor of the King Juan Carlos I of Spain, who fell in love with this bay during his visit to Huatulco.

For all the nature lovers: a walk through the forest in the ‘Botazoo Park’, to see the natural habitat of the local tropical birds, parrots, woodpeckers, hawks, hummingbirds, caracara and ducks, just to name a few. Huatulco is a well-known area by birdwatchers due to its richness in ecosystems and thus its variety in flora and fauna. 80% of the vegetation is low jungle caducifoliae (drops leaves once a year) with some tree species growing up to 18 meters
Approximately 260 species of birds are observed in the area, including several endangered, protected and rare species, representing around 30% of the national count. Huatulco counts with resident and migratory birds that meet on their long journeys. The clean water of the Copalita River provides shelter and food for thousands of individuals, converting this area into a Birdwatchers Heaven.

Explore Oaxaca’s beautiful Sierra region, home of one of Mexico’s richest coffees and a large variety of tropical flora. A little over an hour and a half drive on mostly unpaved roads is all it takes to transport you to this paradise. On route to the finca (or plantation) you will pass Xadani a quaint little village, dominated by an old colonial Spanish church that has been there and remains untouched by the modern world for more than 400 years. Las Cascadas Mágicas de Llano Grande as its name says, is a magical place. The clear waters of the Copalitilla River have molded these beautiful waterfalls. Take a natural massage under its relaxing fresh water currents, allowing them to hit your body soft and gently. Take a well-deserved swim at the base of one of the many Magic Waterfalls. Following the road we will find an old property, built at the beginning of the past century, an ancient and rustic coffee plantation. Here, you are a welcomed guest of the family of 'La Gloria'. Their home is your home, their coffee plantation is yours to explore. You will have the opportunity to learn all about the amazing organic coffee , before tasting it and deciding for yourself!! A butterfly sanctuary can be found on the same premises created for conservation, procreation and care taking of the butterflies of the area. The open air Sanctuary was built recently and houses over 50 species of butterflies and a large variety of plants typical for the region that serve for their housing and food. All stages from cocoon to butterfly can be observed in the 11 windows of the laboratory outside the fly-cage. A tour where you can see and learn about some of the world’s endangered species of turtles. We will be meeting seven of eight species of marine turtles that exist worldwide, as well as six sweet water species and two land types, at an exclusive center, located at Mazunte, dedicated to the breeding study and preservation of turtles. You will also see different growing stages and learn what the Mexican government is doing to protect these very special creatures. Some of the marine turtles swim to the local shores to lay their eggs every year.
Let’s move to Ventanilla Lagoon and the little community dedicated to maintain and preserve a crocodile farm. A canoe ride on the lagoon is an unforgettable experience; you’ll be able to observe several species in their natural habitat, such as birds, raccoons, wild ducks, iguanas, crustaceans and reptiles.

Certified divers are invited to explore the unlimited outdoor aquarium of Huatulco. A large number of marine turtles swim to the Oaxaca shores to lay their eggs every year, Mazunte a former killing beach, was chosen in 1991, when Mexico outlawed the practice, as the site for the Mexican Turtle Center. This laboratory and aquarium is dedicated to the study, protection and preservation of the sea turtle. The turtles come to the beach in large numbers during the nighttime hours for 2-3 evenings after a full moon. They scoop out holes in the sand 2-feet deep, deposit their eggs and cover them up. At the peak of this activity, turtles number in the thousands. These eggs are protected as well as the baby turtle for the time they need to mature.

A great excursion for those in top physical condition. A scenic tour of three of the bays of Huatulco. The adventure begins in the Bay of Santa Cruz. Here you will be equipped with helmets and after a short briefing, you will take your mountain bike to start Huatulco’s tour.
The excursion will start at the Bay of Santa Cruz, where you will find a coffee shop with local coffee, the main harbor and a typical market with handicrafts and souvenirs. From there you will continue towards the Bay of Chahué with an inner harbor for private yachts, while you are heading for the Bay of Tangolunda to enjoy the spectacular viewpoint on our way. You will return via the golf course to the Bay of Chahué to take the direction of La Crucecita, downtown Huatulco to get to know the Central Park and its attractions...

Located in Tangolunda Bay, embedded in the resorts' area, this professional 18 holes golf course offers an incredible view and challenging play, complemented with three beautiful lakes, home of wild birds and an exciting tropical climate. On 72 ha, this world-class course has 18 holes par 72. There is a practice bunker, driving range and putting green highlighted by an exclusive view of Tangolunda Bay from the 13th green. The tees and greens are sown with grass of the type Bermuda 328, the links are common Bermuda and mixed grass is sown in the roughs.
